Airline Crew Members Caught Smuggling $50 Million Value iPhones, iPads, and Extra

Ten crew members of Aeroflot Airways have been charged with smuggling $50 million value stolen digital gadgets from the US to Russia. These digital gadgets included iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches.

The smuggling operation was found when the bags of crew members was inspected. The inspection revealed that the crew members have been carrying many gadgets that have been reported stolen and/or lacking. In a Division of Justice (DOJ) launch, United States Lawyer Seth DuCharme says “As alleged, the defendants have been members of a global smuggling ring that used a community of operators right here and in Russia to avoid US export legal guidelines and rules,”.

The investigation was carried out by FBI, US Customs and Border Safety, and the New York Metropolis Police Division. In response to authorities, eight suspects have been arrested, whereas the opposite two suspects are on the run. The federal government has revoked the visa of 113 Aeroflot Airways members to analyze if another crew members have been concerned within the conspiracy. The authorities are but to disclose what share of gadgets have been Apple merchandise.

Aeroflot is without doubt one of the world’s oldest airways which are in operation. It was based in 1923. And it’s presently Russia’s largest airline. The corporate has reported a $485 million loss within the Q2 2020 because of the COVID pandemic.

Everytime you purchase an Apple system or another digital system for that matter, buy it from a company-authorised or a well-established vendor to just be sure you should not shopping for a stolen system.
